We offer enhanced employment skills development to individuals interested in increasing work skills.

Selected trainees participate in a designated number of training hours
in a chosen work exposure. Work exposures include:

• Hospitality Food Services
• Marketable Skills Training
• Continuing Care Assistant

 

Hospitality Food Services

This challenging program offers a variety of experiences focusing on food
preparation and safety, customer service, cash and daily reports. The Hospitality Food Services module provides participants with an orientation to entry level positions in the hospitality food services industry.

 

Marketable Skills Training

The Marketable Skills Training Module provides participants with an orientation to basic skills in woodworking, janitorial maintenance, retail sales, marketing and public relations. This dynamic module also focuses on various aspects of self-employment and small business management.

 

Continuing Care Assistant

This intense program provides
instruction in continuing care and basic bedside nursing skills including personal care, assessment skills, monitoring vital signs and communication techniques while instilling the values and caring attitudes of a professional care giver. This twenty six week program is offered twice a year.

 

Program Information

Program involvement includes a work exposure and the following four components:

• Personal Development Workshops
These workshops cover such topics as: Self Esteem, Values, Decision Making, Motivation, Goal Setting, Assertiveness Training, Resume Writing and Interview Skills.

• Academic Upgrading
The Academic Upgrading Module provides participants with an
opportunity to increase academic skills to prepare for employment.

• Work Experience Placement
Participants are placed with local employers to gain further work experience once the necessary skill level has been attained. The work placement can accomplish much for the individual seeking meaningful employment.

• Job Finding Workshops
The final week of training consists of a group assisted job search. This intensive week allows trainees the opportunity to update resumes, brush up on interview and job search techniques as well as conduct a well
planned active job search.
